Stephen_Creese

Mr. Stephen Creese
Independent Chair

A lawyer by profession, Stephen Creese is a graduate of Melbourne University in both Arts and Law (Hons) and was admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria in 1977.

After starting his legal career in private practice, Stephen joined Rio Tinto's legal department in 1980. From 1983 onwards working in Exploration, then as General Manager-Commercial for the Kelian Gold Project in Indonesia, in Strategy and Acquisitions and then Finance. In 1995 Stephen became the General Counsel of Rio Tinto Limited until 2008 when he became the Managing Director - Rio Tinto Australia.

Recently Stephen resigned from Rio Tinto to take up the appointment as General Counsel and Company Secretary of Newcrest Mining Limited (from the end of November 2009).

Stephen has been involved in numerous merger and acquisition transactions and is currently serving his second term as a part time member of the Australian Takeovers Panel.

Recently, Stephen was appointed as the independent and honorary Chair of NESA.

Nikki Brouwers

Occupational Therapist Nikki identified her area of expertise in the Disability Employment sector working with CRS, IRS and in 1994 establishing her company Interact Injury Management, currently a provider of DMS and member of NPA. 

An Executive member with numerous Industry groups and currently completing her MBA, Nikki continues to demonstrate skills and knowledge in business management and corporate governance. 

Nikki's DES expertise is indicated by her participation as International Disability Management Forum Guest Speaker (Berlin 2008 and Los Angeles 2010), DEEWR's Transition Reference Groups and Performance Framework Technical Advisory Group and ongoing participation in DES Evaluation Strategy Working Group.

Julie Graham

Julie is the General Manager Corporate Services of Karingal, a Geelong-based community organisation which delivers a range of employment related services to people looking for work from 19 sites throughout Victoria.

She has worked in Employment Services since 1996 and has been actively involved with NESA for many years through numerous Special Interest and Reference Groups. She has also participated in the development of the soon-to-be-released Employment Services Industry Standards and has been a Director of Jobs Australia. Julie is committed to a constructive and representative role on the Board of NESA to enhance the organisation's effectiveness in helping to shape the future of this industry.

Andrew

Mr Andrew Hills
Board Director

Andrew has worked across all aspects of employment services, from front line operations to senior management in not for profit and for profit providers. Andrew brings a unique view of the industry with 4 years as a board member and over 4 years working for NESA. 

Andrew is the official representative for Global Skills a leading JSA and DES provider in NSW. Andrew works with many providers across the country to improve the business model, through innovative ideas and demonstrable examples that assist NESA to influence the Government to make positive changes to the business model, which assists all providers. 

John Perry

John is currently General Manager with BoysTown where he has been working for 15 years after a 20 year career in DEEWR.

BoysTown is a youth specialist JSA Provider with a range of other DEEWR contracts - Youth Connections, PACE, IEP, Jobs and Innovation Funds.

John established BoysTown as a Job Network provider in 2003 and expanded representation in 2006 and again in 2009.  BoysTown now has 23 star rated sites across Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia.  John also pioneered social enterprises in which Boystown currently employ 200 people a day.

Katrina Spies

Katrina has been employed by Quality Innovation Training and Employment (QITE), based on the Atherton Tablelands in Far North Queensland, for over 17 years, the past 16 of which she has been the CEO.

Katrina is currently serving her third term as NESA Director, her first appointment as a NESA Director was in June 2001. She has passionately strived to maximise outcomes for rural Australia and disadvantaged job seekers, in particular Indigenous Australians. She is a past Convenor of the NESA Rural and Remote Special Interest Group.

Katrina is a previous Telstra Queensland Young Business Woman of the Year.

Peter White

Mr. Peter White
Board Director

Peter is the Managing Director of Employment Innovation Victoria Pty Ltd, a private regional JSA, IF & IEP provider in regional Victoria. As a hands-on Managing Director, Peter has an excellent understanding of the operational and management issues which face employment services providers during a time of constant change.

Peter is currently the convenor of the NESA IT Special Interest Groups and a member of the DEEWR IT working Group and the DEEWR Performance Working Group.
